About

About

I’m a career educator entering my fourth decade in the classroom, currently teaching history, government, research, and debate at Hackley School in Tarrytown, New York.

As generative AI began showing up in student work, I started engaging these questions not as an abstract interest, but as a practical necessity. Over time, that work expanded into ongoing conversations with teachers, department chairs, and school leaders about what AI actually means for teaching, assignments, assessment, and academic integrity.

Everything I do stays connected to the classroom and to the teachers navigating these questions every day.

Selected Work & Engagements

  • Professional development workshops for independent school faculty, administrators, and parents

  • Advisory work with schools and districts on AI policy and practical applications for instruction

  • Guest on education podcasts including AI Goes to College and AI-Proof

  • Interviewed in various publications on AI and its impact on K-12 education

AI in education

AI in education, grounded in the classroom.

Generative AI has entered classrooms faster than schools have been able to make sense of it. Much of the conversation see-saws between panic and enthusiasm, with policies and tools often outpacing careful thought about learning itself. My work starts from a simpler premise: AI is already part of students’ academic lives, and pretending otherwise only widens the gap between policy and practice.Rather than focusing on quick fixes or blanket rules, I help schools think clearly about questions of pedagogy authenticity, and opportunity. Most importantly: what it now means to ask students to do meaningful work.I also write regularly about these questions in my Substack, Teaching in the Age of AI, which explores classroom practice, policy tensions, and how schools are trying to respond to a rapidly changing landscape.
